WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL
WORLD OF SPIEGELTENTS
Flemish for “mirror tents”, Spiegeltents were built around 1900 in Belgium to be used as traveling dance halls, and were mainly assembled for town fairs. The numerous spiegels, or mirrors, in the interior of the tent, made it possible to make discreet eye contact with other visitors. These mirror tents were the favorite environment of night owls, heartbreakers and dream chasers. Over the years, Spiegeltents have become legendary as a symbol of the wild fin-de-siecle nightlife. Very few of these unique tents have survived the test of time. Flemish Spiegeltents have been much loved attractions in Belgium, Holland, and Germany for many years. The russet-colored ambiance of mahogany, and the sparkles from the facetted mirrors provide the visitors with a taste of genuine nostalgia.
